Human Trafficking and SUD

This course will help you understand the typical indicators that result from the underlying elements of force, fraud, and deception that are used to exploit people into trafficking. You will understand how to engage with survivors of human trafficking and those who might accompany them to your facility, and how to report potential instances of human trafficking.In this course, you will learn to:Discuss human trafficking and the correlation between human trafficking and SUD.Recognize potential survivors of human trafficking in a medical setting.Devise strategies to properly engage with potential survivors of human trafficking.Develop protocols for human trafficking victims through mandated reporting.Execute options for services, reporting, resources, and safety planning during the patient's discharge planning process.Human trafficking is continuously evolving as offenders apply new techniques to evade detection, but the effects of those techniques will have constant markers. Therefore, this course will help you understand those markers or indicators, and how to respond to them in a trauma-informed manner.
