Managing Facilities Maintenance

• The processes, and tools provided in sessions 1 - 6 are directly applicable to facilities, but must be tailored to the unique requirements of facilities assets and equipment, as well as the tenant-driven demands that govern operations and maintenance. This optional session, attended in lieu of session 7a, provide concise, best practices guidelines for application of the processes, tools and knowledge provided by this certificate course.

• Begins the journey from reactive to world-class maintenance management and provides students with an overview of the requisite attributes, methodologies, and tasks required to create, implement, and sustain effective maintenance.

Leadership and Management Skills for Managers andSupervisors

• Effective maintenance is dependent on an engaged workforce thatshare a common vision and strive for world-class performance. Deficiencies in people skills is perhaps the greatest weakness within the maintenance function. It is incumbent upon the maintenance manager and supervision to have and practiceeffective leadership and management skills. This session focuses on providing these skills and practical guidelines that will help them involve and motivate their workforce, deal with conflicts and other challenges.

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling

• The mission and strategy created for the maintenance organization depends on effective planning and scheduling. This session provides the necessary knowledge and understanding needed to effectively manage the planning and scheduling process. It is not intended to provide mastery of skills required to execute the planning and scheduling function.
