November AI Forum - AI and Healthcare Panel Discussion

AI and Healthcare

Where can artificial intelligence make the greatest difference in healthcare-and what will it take to realize that potential? This panel will explore how healthcare enterprises can prioritize AI investments to improve clinical outcomes, strengthen financial performance, and address pressing challenges in care delivery.

Panelists will examine the gap between AI's capabilities and its use in practice, including the technical, cultural, and organizational barriers that shape adoption. The conversation will focus on building trust among clinicians, faculty, learners, and staff while preserving empathy, clinical judgment, and the patient-provider relationship. Panelists will also consider how academic medical centers can prepare future physicians and healthcare leaders to use AI thoughtfully and responsibly.

The discussion will be led by In Kim, MD, MBA who is Vice Dean for Innovation and Strategy, Associate Vice President of Health Affairs and tenured Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Panelists will be Cody Bumgardner, PhD who serves as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Center for Digital Innovation and Sunita Kasliwal, MD, MBA who is the chief medical information officer for UofL Health.
