Course Detail: CPM - Certified Public ManagerŪ Program

The Certified Public ManagerŪ program provides a foundation of knowledge and skills in management practices for managers at all levels in government and public-serving organizations; offers opportunities for professional and personal growth for public-sector employees; and fosters effective management practices in government and nonprofit organizations.

The Heartland CPM program combines classroom hours, online learning, and outside assignments to meet 300 hours of structured learning to earn the CPM credential. Classes meet for two days each month from January through November, allowing participants to build their peer network while strengthening management competencies. Participants also complete a capstone project in conjunction with their sponsoring agencies focused on cost savings, revenue generation, process improvement, or innovation.

For 2024, CPM classes will be offered in Finney County (Garden City), the KC Metro Area, and Online. Participants register for a primary class location but can attend the other location if their schedule requires. Click on a class below for additional details or to begin the registration process. You can also find our program brochure and a printable schedule (available in December) on our website at http://kupmc.ku.edu/programs/cpm.
A completed participant intent form and a supervisor recommendation form are required; additional instructions will be provided in the confirmation email you receive after applying.
