Supervisory Leadership Training

The Supervisory Leadership Training class will meet together for three consecutive days, November 4-6, 2025, via Zoom. Each day will have a morning and afternoon session, with a long break in-between to avoid Zoom fatigue.

  • On November 4th, class will run from 9:30am-12:00pm, and then 1:30pm-4:00pm. This day is longer to allow participants time to fully debrief the results of their SDI assessment that they will complete prior to class.
  • Classes on November 5th & 6th will run from 9:30am-11:30am, and then 1:30pm-3:30pm
  • During our three days together, we’ll cover a wealth of information. At the close of the three days, you’ll set a goal for yourself about new skills/practices you want to implement following the training. You will also receive a simple, observational assignment that you can do while completing your normal supervisory work. On December 9th, we’ll all come back together for a 90-minute lunchtime (feel free to bring your lunch to enjoy during the session) discussion and report-out via Zoom. This session will be from 12pm-1:30pm. This added layer of accountability will ensure that what happens in the classroom actually translates to action in your day-to-day. Also, it’ll be nice to see one another again!

Since this class will meet via Zoom, participants must have access to:

  •  A computer or tablet with a video camera. Participants are not required to have cameras on at all times, but seeing on another's faces for some time each class greatly facilitates relationship development.
  • A reliable internet connection.
  • Space where they can engage without being disrupted; headphones with a microphone are recommended, but not required.

Emerging Leaders Academy

This cohort will meet via Zoom on Tuesday starting on August 19th and will wrap up on December 9th.

  • Class will meet from 9:00am to 12:00pm and from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
  • Your facilitator will insert breaks into the morning and afternoon sessions. During these breaks, you are highly encouraged to get away from your screens, move around, and even go outside. Research shows that physical movement is very important for sustained learning-especially in online environments.
  • Participants should plan for 60 minutes (on average) of work between each class meeting to prepare for class and complete the required assignments.

Since this class will meet via Zoom, participants must have access to:

  • A computer or tablet with a video camera. Participants are strongly recommended to have cameras on as much as possible because seeing one another's faces each class greatly facilitates relationship development.
  • A reliable internet connection.
  • The ability to access KU's Canvas system (http://canvas.ku.edu) via an internet browser to access materials and complete assignments. This will work best with Chrome or Firefox as your browser. We will send login information at a later time, but for now just make sure your organization doesn't block access to the site.
  • A location where you can engage without being interrupted. If possible a separate space with a door is preferred, and headphones with a microphone are recommended.
