Course Detail: HOC1 - Hockey Prep Beginner 1 | age 7+

Beginner 1 Hockey classes require student to march and glide a full body length and must have passed Sam 2 or Basic 1. Hockey Beginner 1 is designed for beginner skaters age 7+ who want to play hockey, are able to stand, march and glide on skates. Class teaches the fundamentals of hockey skating including basic hockey stance, fall/recovery, glides and dips, forwards swizzles/double c-cuts, T-pushes, snowplow stop, half turns and proper stick holding. There are four badge levels in which skaters learn how to be proficient and agile on the ice. Proper skating techniques for the game of hockey are the focus; most elements are taught without a stick or puck. Class is 30 minutes and uses stations or small groups based on the number of skaters and their abilities, with some free time. Helmets are required for all Hockey classes. Skaters should wear warm pants, jacket and gloves. Hockey classes also require hockey gloves, shin pads, and a stick (other equipment is optional, but recommended).
