Biography: Gray is a renowned gardener celebrated for his profound expertise in cultivating a wide array of iris varieties. His mastery is vividly displayed at the Iris Gardens, which he meticulously developed at Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens in Savannah. A longtime resident of The Landings, Gray has dedicated over a decade to serving on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Coastal Gardens. Nationally recognized, he is affectionately known as Mr. Green Genes and Georgia's Iris Evangelist.Beyond his horticultural acclaim, Gray is an active member of the Ogeechee Audubon Society, where he shares his passion for birding as a local expert. Each year, he leads crucial bird counts and educational outings, contributing significantly to the understanding of regional avian populations. Notably, Gray has been instrumental in researching the winter migration of Rusty Blackbirds, a species at risk due to habitat loss, from their breeding grounds in Canada and Alaska.
