Brenda Stevens'  journey as an artist began in the 1980s at the Arkansas Museum of Art in Little Rock, Arkansas where she took classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography. In 1989 she turned exclusively to watercolor and studied under such noted artists as the California Scene Painter, Milford Zornes, Frank Webb, and Jack Shields. During this time, she was an active member of the Mid-South Watercolor Society and the Arkansas League of Artists.

After re-locating to LaGrange, Georgia in 1990, Brenda was a founding member and the first President of LaGrange Artists' Guild, and was a member of the Atlanta Artists Club, exhibiting and selling work at their Buckhead and Galleria Mall galleries.

In 2002, Brenda was hired by Callaway Gardens Resort, in Pine Mountain, Georgia, to teach watercolor to their guests. She created Watercolor Crash Course! a unique method of teaching that is fun for beginners, allows them to start and finish a small painting in four hours, and introduces them to fundamental painting techniques and color theory.

During her thirty five-year career she's sold over a hundred paintings. She frequently paints commissions of private homes, and  special projects for organizations and businesses. Two paintings, Cottonwood Creek and Sunflowers were purchased by Columbus State University and hang in the lobby of the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center.
