Course Detail: PCSE-115 - TRANSPORTATION DESIGN


Learn the essential skills of an automotive designer. Capture the energy and motion of a vehicle with gestural sketching. Master proportions and perspective to create realistic designs that look great from every angle. Then, you'll transform your sketches into 3D models and render them in full color on paper. You'll even get honest feedback from professional automotive designers to help you refine your concepts and elevate your skills. This is the perfect class for anyone who loves things that move, has an eye for sleek design, and is always imagining what the future will look like.

The class will cover the design process including: research and inspiration, packaging,  concept  exploration, concept development, schematic design, design development and presentation of  concepts. Students will create a concept vehicle for the year 2060


Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 

  1. Use perspective sketching to conceive and illustrate 3D shapes and concepts

  2. Use techniques of light and shade to communicate vehicle shape and ideas 

  3. Create an orthographic drawing of a package design with 3 view renderings

  4. Understand the Automobile designer's role in overall vehicle creation  

  5. Conceive a "Design Philosophy" for a target customer

  6. Conceive and create "rapid sketches" of vehicles respective of that philosophy

  7. Effectively present their design ideas

A $300 deposit is required to reserve a spot in PCSE programs. Once you select "Resident" or "Commuter" tuition, you will be able to make a "Minimum Payment" in your shopping cart. A minimum payment of $300 is required, however, additional amounts can be paid.
