Overview of Class

This master clinic is designed to be a hands-on workshop on woodwind and brass performance and pedagogy. The aim of the course is to provide music educators with an opportunity to refresh their knowledge about the fundamentals of woodwind and brass teaching and performance while also delving into advanced concepts on each instrument to support students that reach higher levels of instrumental development. Artist faculty at the Osher School of Music will facilitate flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone/euphonium, and tuba clinic sessions. Two sessions will be offered during each day of workshop meetings with each session running for three hours. Participants should bring the instrument for the topic of study to each clinic session. Participants taking this course for graduate credit will generate and submit an electronic resource site that will serve as a portfolio of learning and as a quick reference tool that can be updated easily and used in professional practice. This course will be offered as credit and CEU options.

Class Materials (Required)

Brass and woodwind instruments for each instrumental clinic session (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone/euphonium, tuba). Instruments may be checked out on a limited basis from the Osher School of Music with advanced notice.
