T&L 2900: Navigating Difficult Issues in Rural Schools Through Collaborative Inquiry

The UND College of Education & Human Development invites Mahnomen teachers to participate in a professional learning program for the 2026-27 school year. Up to 15 participants will form an inquiry community to support each other as they engage in collaborative inquiry to navigate a difficult topic/issue they identify in their context or curriculum while utilizing strengths-based perspectives on rural schools and communities.

The program invites participants to engage in an inquiry process facilitated by UND personnel. Through this experience, educators will work together to:
  • Identify difficult topics/issues in their teaching or practice
  • Generate compelling questions about the topics/issues they identify
  • Read and discuss strengths-based and locally relevant perspectives on rural and Indigenous communities
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple perspectives
  • Draw initial insights to take informed action
  • Share their findings with colleagues and school community

Cancellation Policy

If UND receives the Course Withdrawal Form 7 or more calendar days before the learning event start date, the fee paid to UND Professional Development for Educators minus a $35 processing fee will be refunded. If the fee paid to UND is less than $100 the processing fee will be waived. NO REFUNDS are available if a withdrawal notification is received 6 or less calendar days before the learning event start date.
