Foundational to our instructional vision at Bismarck High School, BHS's Instructional Framework reinforces literacy skill development throughout each class period and aligns our instructional practices as a school, strengthening our collective teacher efficacy (educators' shared belief that through their combined efforts they can positively influence student outcomes, including outcomes for those who are disengaged, unmotivated, and/or disadvantaged) through shared expectations and collaboration. Within our shared BHS Literacy Focus, we will work to maintain a focused emphasis on developing critical reading skills by embedding disciplinary literacy strategies across all content areas in order to strengthen students' ability to comprehend key details and ideas, analyze craft and structure, integrate ideas, and communicate information within rigorous content standards.
