Course Detail: HCWFV - Child Health and Welfare Summit - Virtual

The University Of Alabama School Of Social Work, through the support of The Caring Foundation of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, will host the Annual Child Health and Welfare Summit on July 18, 2024 at the Bryant Conference Center in Tuscaloosa. There is also an option to participate virtually. This year's Summit will provide information on the most common childhood mental health diagnoses, treatment options, awareness of side effects that may occur from taking psychotropic medications for mental health diagnoses, with a focused effort on children and youth in foster care. There is a growing body of evidence demonstrating that abuse and neglect-common precursors to those involved in the child welfare system-have effects on the adolescent brain. The target audience for this Summit are child welfare practitioners, foster parents and caregivers, social workers, teachers, therapists, and medical personnel.
