Electrical Systems - Understanding Function and How It Can Harm

In this session, we will discuss how electricity is generated and transmitted to us. We will discuss the different components of the electrical system and its function and purpose. Common problems and tasks associated with the equipment will be addressed. Potential hazards and precautions will be covered. Arc flash and shock hazards will be discussed. This class is designed to increase your understanding of how equipment works.

Objectives include:

Understand the function of electrical equipment.

Know the purpose of motor control centers, transformers, breakers and relays

Awareness of tasks associated with equipment

Better understanding of arc flash

Awareness of shock hazards

Awareness of developing technologies

Understanding of whom and how personnel are exposed
