National Center on Forensics: Essentials of Forensic Toxicology

This course will provide a comprehensive understanding of toxicology evidence. You will learn about the various types of toxicological evidence commonly accepted by laboratories, as well as the proper procedures for collecting, packaging, labeling, and submitting such evidence. The course will also delve into the laboratory analysis process for toxicology evidence, exploring the techniques used to identify and quantify different substances. Additionally, you will gain insights into current toxicological trends related to overdoses and the types of cases commonly submitted to toxicology analysis laboratories.

National Center on Forensics: Oral Fluid Testing in DUID Investigations
Law enforcement officers face the challenge of ensuring the safety of motorists, particularly when dealing with drivers who are under the influence of drugs that cannot be detected through a breathalyzer test. To address this issue, new roadside screening instruments have been developed to identify these drugs in oral fluid samples. Certified officers can now use these instruments, similar to how a breathalyzer is employed to detect alcohol in breath.
