Biography: Carol A. Prickett, Ph.D., MT-BC, is Professor of Music Therapy and Music Education at the University of Alabama. She is the Director of the Music Therapy Program and the Department Head for Music Education. In 2009,she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Music Therapy Association. At UA, she is a College of Arts & Sciences Leadership Board Faculty Fellow (2008-2011), and in 2007, Dr. Prickettwas honored to receive the A&S "Outstanding Commitment to Students" award. She served as a Distinguished Teaching Fellow in Arts & Sciences from 1999 - 2001. A former member of the editorial review boards of the Journal of Music Therapy and the Journal of Research in Music Education, she has also edited two books; has published in national and international journals; and has regularly presented sessions at American Music Therapy Association and at national music education conferences and seminars. She has served on the Executive Board of the National Association for Music Therapy and as President of the Southeastern Region - American Music Therapy Association. She has received awards for outstanding research as well as for service from the Southeastern Region of the American Music Therapy Association.
