Course Detail: GERMANLANGUAGE - 461 German Language and Culture

Whether you're planning a trip to Germany, exploring your heritage, or simply want to connect with German speakers, this course offers a welcoming introduction to the German language and culture. Instructor Pat Shelley brings nearly 20 years of teaching experience at SVSU and authentic language immersion from his time living with a German family and studying at Philipps-Universität Marburg an der Lahn. Using the accessible and beautifully illustrated text 15-Minute German: Learn in Just 12 Weeks, students will focus on: Correct pronunciation of Standard German (Hochdeutsch), Geography and culture along the Rhine River, Practical conversation skills and Sharing personal connections to German language, culture, and heritage. This course creates a supportive environment for learners of all backgrounds to discover the German language together.
