DOT01A - Part 1 of 2: DOT Drug Testing and Alcohol Screening Online Certification Course

Part 1 is a six (6) hour online course you will complete on Moodle, our learning management system. It covers the training and competencies for the Department of Transportation (DOT) Screening Test Technician (STT) requirements.

Part 2 of this program is a two (2) hour face-to-face online meeting with the instructor to demonstrate proficiency in the testing process of mock collections. IMPORTANT: This step is required by the DOT in order for you to legally provide this service in your office.

After you complete part 1 of the training, you must set up and complete Part 2 within 30 days. Upon successful completion of both parts you should be able to:

Fulfill training and competencies for the DOT Screening Test Technician (STT) requirements.
Earn your certification to perform these services in your office
Understand how to keep in accordance with Federal 49 CFR Part 40 (transportation is one of fifty titles comprising the United States Federal Code of Regulations).
Understand the needs in the market place and how to market yourself to industry and business as a certified alcohol and drug screening professional (Screening Test Technician).

Required Equipment: DOT Alcohol and Drug Screening Kit, order from Northwestern's Bookstore 952-885-5416. The kit costs $5.00 plus shipping costs which vary.

Optional Equipment: Non-evidential breath testing device (available from Amazon).

Biography:

Elizabeth L. Auppl owns WorkplaceHuman Relations. WHR is focused on providing injury prevention, federal compliance solutions, policy consultation to business and industry, and consulting resources and services to health care professionals involved in occupational safety and employee health fields.

Her work is broad and diverse, and has included nearly three decades of involvement with healthcare providers, largely concerning the chiropractic profession, followed by medical clinic personnel, and nurses. Since 2004, Ms. Auppl remains a faculty person for the Postgraduate Chiropractic Occupational Health and Applied Ergonomics program for Northwestern Health Sciences University (Bloomington, MN), as well as providing public information course(s) to students.
