Course Detail: Elevating Practice in Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy


This is a comprehensive intermediate-level course series in orthopedic/sports physical therapy, that encompasses commonly encountered disorders of the spine and extremities. The emphasis will be on the integration of current scientific literature and clinical practice into developing clinical reasoning skills and proficiency in the execution of manual therapy and movement science assessment and intervention procedures. Written and practical assessments will be given for each of the modules in order to help participants assess their competence with the material and skills. These can be taken as an entire course series (6 modules in total), or as individual modules by body region.

Format
Hybrid (asynchronous/online prep with an in-person/onsite weekend lab per module)


- Module 1: Lumbopelvic Spine (online content runs 9/20/2025 - 10/26/2025; weekend lab October 18-19, 9:00-4:00 each day)

- Module 2: Cervicothoracic Spine (online content runs 11/8/2025 - 12/14/2025; weekend lab December 6-7, 9:00-4:00 each day)

- Module 3: Hip & Knee (online content runs 1/10/2026 - 2/15/2026; weekend lab February 7-8, 9:00-4:00 each day)

- Module 4: Ankle/Foot & Running Gait (online content runs 2/21/2026 - 3/29/2026; weekend lab March 21-22, 9:00-4:00 each day)

- Module 5: Shoulder (online content runs 4/4/2026 - 5/10/2026; weekend lab May 2-3, 9:00-4:00 each day)

- Module 6: Elbow & Wrist/Hand (online content runs 5/16/2026 - 6/21/2026; weekend lab June 13-14, 9:00-4:00 each day)


Cost of Program
$500.00 per module, or $2,500 for entire course series.


Clinical partners of the MGH Institute Physical Therapy Department are eligible for a 40% registration cost discount. Please contact pt@mghihp.edu for details before registering. You will be provided with an access code to receive the discounted ticket price of $300 per module, or $1500 for the entire course series.


How to Register

  3. When you are logged in and return to the cart, you must select your name under the Add Attendee to Session dropdown before you can check out (see screenshot below).
  4. Click Checkout and answer a few program questions before finalizing your registration.
  5. You will receive 3 automated emails upon successful registration within 24 hours: an order confirmation with course reminders, an email to set up your D2L Brightspace password to access the modules, and a receipt.
Note: If registering multiple people at once, simply click Add Attendees to list in the cart to create a profile for each additional person.


How to Access Your Course
When registering on this site for the first time, you will create an account with your email address, which will automatically serve as your username for your D2L Brightspace account, a separate learning platform where this course is located. Once registered into this offering, you will receive an email to set up your password on D2L Brightspace. Log on and find your course on the homepage.

 Session Detail

Schedule: Participants are onsite for 13 hours (weekend lab sessions). Over the course of the 5-week module, registrants participate in online case discussions, watch lecture recordings, complete readings, and online quizzes. Participants will dedicate approximately 2-3 hours per week to the content (12 hours in total).
