Course Detail: Aspiring Physician and Medical Scientist Program


This program is for pre-college students interested in pursuing a career in medicine or medical research. The MGH IHP Aspiring Physician and Medical Scientist Summer Program, offered by the MGH IHP Center of Excellence in Healthcare Simulation Research, gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in healthcare and medical research, learn from MGH IHP faculty, Harvard Medical School instructors, and earn a prestigious certificate to enhance college applications.

How to Register

Complete the following steps to register:
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page, Confirm Fees and click on "Add to Cart".
  • Once in the cart, click "Create Profile".
  • Click Checkout and complete your payment. (see "Course Fees" for information for scholarship recipients)
  • After registering, you will receive a confirmation email along with your payment receipt.

Course Fees

  • Program Tuition: $3500
    • If you have been approved for a program scholarship you will use the discount code provided in your scholarship award letter during check out to complete registration.
  • Course Credits (optional additional fee): $300

Payment Methods

  • Credit & Debit Card: Follow above registration instructions. Pay at checkout with your card information.

Refund Policy

If you need to withdraw from the Aspiring Physician and Medical Scientist Program after registering, please notify the Program Manager in writing at sbprout@mgb.org.
  • Full refunds (minus a processing fee, if applicable) will be granted for cancellations made on or before June 15 each Summer.
  • Partial refunds (50%) may be available for cancellations made between June 16 and July 1 each Summer, depending on administrative commitments already made.
  • No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after July 1, each Summer, or for no-shows.
All refunds will be processed to the orginal method of payment with 2-3 weeks of cancellation confirmation.

How to Access Your Course

New Users: Course communication platform and instructions will be shared via email prior to program start.

Technical Requirements:
  • Smartphone or mobile device
  • A laptop or desktop computer is preferred over smartphone for synchronous (scheduled class) sessions
