Course Detail: Patient-Centered Precepting for the Provider
This course will guide preceptors in effective precepting practices and the use of available resources, with a focus on compassionate and patient-centered precepting.This course has three main parts. The first part of the course covers background about the healthcare context, existing precepting models, and the current state of precepting. The second part covers effective teaching and learning principles, assessment methods, and setting expectations with learners. The third and final section of the course covers effective precepting practices to help preceptors have difficult conversations, provide feedback, and manage a learner's progression.As a foundational course, this course will also include additional learning pathways and a repository of resources for deeper learning and to address gaps in existing programs.
