Course Detail: Guiding Students to Think Critically About AI in Clinical Practice
This session highlights how some faculty at the MGH Institute are introducing students to the thoughtful and ethical use of generative AI as a tool to support professional reasoning and clinical decision-making. The goal is not to promote AI use universally, but to help students develop the skills to question, verify, and critically appraise AI-generated content when it intersects with evidence-based, client-centered care.Clinical instructors will gain insight into how these conversations are taking shape within the curriculum and learn strategies to reinforce reflective thinking in practice-based settings. Together, we will explore ways to help students evaluate the credibility of AI outputs and integrate their own clinical judgment when encountering emerging technologies.By the end of the session, participants will leave with practical examples to model responsible, informed engagement with AI.
