Course Detail: PHB.PRACT.TRNG.COMP - Phlebotomy with Internship Training Component

This phlebotomy course with internship component consist of classroom lectures that provide the knowledge on professional conduct, patient care, adherence to healthcare safety standards, various venipuncture techniques and mechanics involved in specimen collection blood and non-blood. Study the complications in phlebotomy and special collection procedures.  Practice and learn how to do all areas of puncture safely and properly. Learn and practice specimen handling, transport, and processing of blood and non blood specimens. After successful completion of all aspects of the phlebotomy course, students advance to real-world application in preparation for a career as a laboratory phlebotomist. Internship requires 100 hours and 100 successful venipunctures at a designate site. Learn the requirements for the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathology) certification examination. CPR/BLS will be scheduled by the Coordinator during class hours. Program orientation and internship requirements are scheduled on the first day of class from 5pm to 6pm.
