Course: Franchise Management: Buy and Grow a Franchise


This course is self-paced, with about 8-10 hours of work that you can complete at any time during the week, including blog entries, quizzes, and interaction with other professionals.

Note: a minimum enrollment of 10 must be reached in order for the program to run.

This course is week 3 of the Online Franchise Management Bootcamp.

Gain exposure to the financial terms and considerations for becoming a franchisee and growing operations. Topics covered include evaluating funding sources, preparing financial statements, understanding unit economics and cash flow, tracking financials and developing a business plan.

  1. Describe the various requirements that franchisors look at when evaluating a potential franchisee.
  2. Explain both financial and non-financial requirements and relate these same requirements from the candidate's point-of-view.
  3. Contrast and compare various options for funding a single franchise unit or expanding the number of units.
  4. Explain and evaluate specific items in an FDD, focus on 6, 7, & 19.
  5. Analyze the Franchisor financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) and describe the financial health or weakness of the Franchisor based on your analysis.
