Information
To begin our study of various cultures from around the world, we've planned a seminar-style program addressing the questions "What is culture?" and "Is there a culture identified with the USA?"Dr. Mike Wiant, who retired in 2017 after 35 years of service to the Illinois State Museum, will facilitate our opening conversation.Trained in anthropology and archaeology, Wiant has explored Native American history, human ecology, and landscape history in Illinois and the Midwest. This essay from the website Cultural Intention might help you begin your thinking. Join us for what will hopefully be a spirited conversation.
