Course: Rural Grocery Transition Specialist

The Rural Grocery Transition Specialist program trains resource providers to better support rural grocers through business transition. This course is designed for extension professionals, economic developers, and other resource providers who support rural communities. Participants will gain strategies for building relationships with grocery store owners and managers, understanding of transition planning and business valuation concepts, and tools to support grocery store transitions. In addition, participants will join a national network of professionals dedicated to supporting rural communities. The course is taught by a teaching team comprised of 18 subject matter experts from across the country with a wide range of expertise related to business transition planning and rural grocery. The course is comprised of seven self-paced, online modules and includes homework assessments, interactive discussion boards, and two Zoom meetings.

Rural Grocery Transition Specialist microcredential introduces you to content through modules. Content requires approximately 20 to 25 hours to complete. Learning assessment will be conducted through learning activities. To successfully complete the microcredential and earn a digital badge, you must achieve a minimum passing score of 75%.

If you must cancel your registration, please do so by 08/19/24 to receive a refund less a $50.00 cancellation fee. To cancel your registration, please send a written request to registration@k-state.edu with the program name in the subject line. Registered participants who do not cancel their registration by the refund deadline are responsible for registration fees even if they do not participate.

Kansas State University may cancel or postpone this program because of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If the program is canceled, registration fees will be refunded. Fees will not be refunded if the program is held but the registrant is unable to participate and has not requested a refund by the cancellation deadline.
