Course: Sorghum Across the Value Chain

This course covers where sorghum is grown around the world and its role as a drought-tolerant crop in a global food system. Explore insights into the management and production of a successful crop, harvesting and storing the crop, and how it is used and consumed as feed, food and seed.

Specifically, the course covers global trends in sorghum production and use, smallholder production techniques for dry climates, early identification of diseases and pests, management strategies, harvest readiness and timing, post-harvest storage techniques, and transformation processing for human consumption and poultry.

The content is broken down into modules and smaller units followed by quizzes to test understanding and preparation. Video presentations are offered in short segments with additional resources, including presentations, worksheets and handouts designed to reinforce learning.

The Sorghum Across the Value Chain microcredential includes five learning modules with one to three units each. Content requires approximately 10 to 12 hours to complete. To successfully complete the microcredential and earn a digital badge, learners must achieve a minimum passing score of 80% on each of the unit quizzes.
