Finding your place in the dynamic space ecosystem.

The space ecosystem is one of the most dynamic sectors in the global economy.   A recent report from McKinsey estimates that the space economy will grow from $630B in to $1,790B in 2035. Almost 70% of this growth will come from what McKinsey calls "reach" programs, or programs which are still in formation and largely dependent on the development of current backbone programs.  What this means is that there are tremendous opportunities ahead, but the course is not clear.  This program is intended to give you the tools to plot your own future through the complex and ever changing space ecosystem.  While the risks and uncertainties are high, the one certainty is that with over a trillion dollars in growth, there will be opportunities. 

What You Will Learn

In this self-paced course, four-week course, you will use change management processes and frameworks to:

• Develop a foundation of knowledge:  Understand the industry, market, policy and technological segments in the space ecosystem and how these segments interact. 
• Analyze the critical requirements in each space industry, and how different programs meet (or fail to meet) these requirements, but most importantly how different end users value these requirements.
• Evaluate the efficacy of space programs to meet end user requirements in the context of terrestrial competition.
• Develop the critical thinking tools based on this understanding to think create your own roadmaps to success in this ecosystem. 

Who Should Attend This Course:

Economically, politically and militarily Space is increasingly a competitive and contested environment. As competitive as it may be in space, the real battle will be fought on the ground. As in any new frontier, the real battles will be on the ground. The most successful players will be the men and women who understand the lay of the land, the nature of the flora and fauna around them, and how to find, develop and defend their place in space.   

Your place in space, maybe moving from another industry into your first job in space.  This course will help you find the right industry to capitalize on your talents.  Your place may be moving up to a more responsible position.  As decision-making increasingly moves to lower level, you will need to understand the factors beyond your specific responsibilities to help guide your company into the future. Rapidly developing companies are creating opportunities for job advancement unseen since the Apollo era.  For entrepreneurs, it will pay to understand the broader market of your product.  Most successful startups pivot at least once. Investors know this and look for leaders who really comprehend the dynamics of their broader market and will know how to steer their company to success.

Additional Information

This course is online, self-paced, and asynchronous. There are no scheduled meeting times with an instructor. Coursework is web-based with no additional software required. A reliable internet connection is recommended.
