Course Detail: SGA-1008 - Managing Human Factors
Overview
Human factors (HF) is the study of how people use technology. It involves the interaction of human abilities, expectations, and limitations, with work environments and system design. Human factors (behavior, performance, and limitations) and safety in the aviation systems (a new view) are areas of increasing importance and piques intrigue across aviation working professionals and leaders.
Who should attend?
This course is intended for aviation working professionals at airlines, airports, state offices or regulatory bodies, aviation consultancies and those performing operational roles such as aircraft repair, maintenance, and overhaul.
Course Benefits
This course provides participants with applicational knowledge to enhance daily aviation operations, human factors and systems safety knowledge. This will assist the participants in optimizing the fit between people (themselves and co-workers) and the overall systems to improve the safety and performance level of the organization.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe and explain aviation human factors and ergonomics concepts
- Assess key human performance and limitations of human, including ergonomics
- Integrate and apply human factors knowledge into key areas of daily aviation operations
- Evaluate human factors and overall systems safety relationships and apply these concepts to their day-to-day operations and safety investigation activities.
Course Delivery
The course is delivered in a blended modality that uses EagleVision and Canvas to deliver the curriculum in a virtual classroom, providing a campus learning experience from anywhere.
- EagleVision: A technology that combines web video conferencing with a virtual learning environment to enhance real-time collaboration, allowing you to communicate directly and instantly with professors and classmates during scheduled meetings.
- Canvas: An educational platform designed with the online teaching and learning experience in mind, is a cloud-based system that is viewable on any web browser, computer, or mobile device and allows for engagement and collaboration through video, audio, integrated media recorder, text, and discussion boards at whatever time you chose.
This course is delivered over four weeks, with EagleVision sessions on Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Singapore time (UTC +8) and online Canvas activities taking place throughout all four weeks. The dates and times of the next session are shown below in the Session Information section.
