Modern airports are more than just crucial nodes for passenger and cargo traffic. This course in Airport Management is specifically created for airport, airline, and air navigation service provider's professionals to further operate and manage their aviation organization and to apply fundamental planning concepts of airports industry.

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon the completion of this course, participants should be able to

  1. Appreciate the development of airport terminals from the early days of commercial aviation to present-day terminal design concepts
  2. Identify an airport's reference code and describe the airport systems and how the components of airside and landside integrates in the airport organization chart
  3. Identify the various facilities on an airport's airfield and the specifications and types of airport runways, airport layout and runway orientation planning using wind rose analysis 
  4. Describe the various navigational aids that exist on airfields (e.g. airfield lighting, signage, and markings) and infrastructure to increase the security of the airfield
  5. Understand how air traffic control, safety inspection programs, aircraft rescue and firefighting requirements affects airport management
  6. Define the various types of airport planning studies and the different elements of the airport master plan and discuss current and future issues concerning airports.

Course Delivery

The course is delivered over one month in a flexible virtual format, combining live instruction with self-paced coursework.

  • EagleVision (powered by Zoom): Our virtual classroom technology for live, interactive sessions. Engage directly with professors and classmates in real-time during scheduled lectures. All live sessions are recorded and made available to participants in the event that a session is missed.
  • Canvas: A modern, cloud-based learning platform accessible from any device. Access course materials, submit assignments, and collaborate on discussion boards at your own pace.

Online EagleVision sessions are held on four Saturdays over the course of one month, with each session meeting for five hours. Sessions are supported by asynchronous Canvas activities between classes. Upcoming course dates and times are listed in the Session Information section below. Class times may be adjusted based on the regions from which participants are joining to accommodate different time zones. 

This course may be completed independently or combined with other eligible courses to fulfill the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Aviation (GCA).

The Graduate Certificate in Aviation (GCA) is designed for aviation professionals seeking to strengthen their knowledge and management capabilities within the global aviation industry, with particular emphasis on the Asia and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions.

Designed for professionals across airports, airlines, air navigation service providers, aircraft management, banking and finance, and other aviation-related sectors, the program develops practical knowledge and skills for managing aviation organizations and applying fundamental business and operational concepts within a global industry.

Registration and Course Fees:
Full payment is required at the time of registration to secure your seat in an ERAU Professional Education & Training course.

Changes to Your Enrollment:
We understand that plans can change! If you need to withdraw from a course, you'll receive a full refund (100%) as long as you notify us at least ten (10) working days before the start of the course. Requests to withdraw made after this deadline are not eligible for any refund; however, a one-time transfer to the next session may be possible. Requests to withdraw should be sent by 
email.

Class Cancellations:
In the rare case that a course has low enrollment and needs to be canceled, we'll do our best to let you know as soon as possible. If this happens, you'll receive a full refund (100%) or can transfer to the next session or similar course.
