About the Program

The Graduate Certificate in Aviation is specifically created to focus on the aviation industry in the Asia and Middle East North Africa (MENA) region. Airport, airline, air navigation service provider, aircraft management, banking and finance professionals will learn to operate and manage aviation organizations further and apply fundamental concepts to the global airline industry, particularly emphasizing the Asia and MENA Regions.

 

Course Delivery

With the exception of GAP 1001 and GAP 1002, each Graduate Certificate in Aviation course consists of 20 contact hours delivered over four five-hour synchronous training sessions via EagleVision (Zoom).

 

Certificate Requirements

The Graduate Certificate in Aviation requires a student to take any five (5) of the following eight (8) courses:

 

SGA 1003 - Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Students will explore the challenges faced in the supply chain, the basic concepts of supply chain management, supply chain strategy, supply chain network, supply chain planning and forecasting. Case studies on the supply chain in aviation in the Asia and MENA regions will be used for discussion.

 

SGA 1005 - Applied Economics in Aviation: Students will explore the nature of air transportation demand and airline supply, the economic foundation for airline pricing and the complex methodology for managing passenger and freight fares, airline costs and control methods, and fleet management. Economic theory will be applied to current and future predicted challenges in aviation within the context of the Asia and MENA regions.

 

SGA 1006 - Production and Procurement Management: Students will explore operations strategy, product design, process design and analysis, capacity planning, lean production systems, and the procurement process from sourcing to managing suppliers. Case studies on production and procurement in aviation from the Asia and MENA regions will be used for discussion.

 

SGA 1008 - Managing Human Factors: Students will explore the basic aviation human factors concepts and key human performance issues relevant to aviation operations and integrate human factors knowledge into key areas of aviation operations. This course will also focus on applying operational human factors knowledge to safety investigation activities in the Asia and MENA region aviation industry.

 

SAV 1000 - Sustainability Operations in Airports: This course aims to educate airport professionals in sustainable airport operations by identifying the elements that make airports sustainable facilities and the appreciation of corporate sustainability management. Furthermore, participants will get to apply ISO standards with a focus on ISO 14001/50001 and examine the role of leadership in building a sustainable culture in airport operations.

 

SGA 1011 - Aviation Project Management: This course equips students with the specialized skills and knowledge to excel in project management within the aviation industry. Students will thoroughly understand core project management principles explicitly applied to aviation projects. The course will explore the intricacies of planning, scheduling, and budgeting within the aviation regulatory environment. Topics such as risk management strategies, effective communication and collaboration skills to lead diverse teams will be explored.

 

GAP 1001 - Airline Operations Management (ICAO GAPP): This course provides an overall and in-depth study of Airline Operations Management and is intended to add actionable value for managers, leaders, policymakers, and professionals in the field of air transportation. This course aims to foster actionable takeaways for participants by building their knowledge around effective airline management's multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary aspects. This course utilizes the latest developments and trends in airline operations management, as highlighted by real-world case studies from the Asia and MENA regions.

 

GAP 1002 - Air Cargo Management (ICAO GAPP): Air Cargo Management is a curated course for managers, leaders, policymakers and professionals in airports, airlines, supply chains and logistics. This course aims to holistically develop the participants' knowledge of air cargo management's complexities, intricacies and nuances. Furthermore, this course takes an applied view of the latest regulations in the air cargo market and incorporates exciting case studies from the Asia and MENA regions.
