Course Detail: A8SB3 - Activ8 Spring Break 2025 (3rd-8th)
This "Around the World in a Week" camp for ages 8-14 can offer a deeper exploration of different cultures, combining fun activities with hands-on learning. Each day focuses on a different continent or region, allowing kids to explore various traditions, cuisines, and skills from around the world.
Day One
Exploring Europe (France, Italy, and Greece)Campers will embark on a European adventure, starting with making French crępes and Italian pizza. They'll then dive into the history of ancient Greece by building mini Parthenons, followed by fun Olympic games and folk dancing from France and Italy.
Day Two
Adventure in Africa (Egypt, Nigeria, and Kenya)Exploring Africa, campers will learn about Egypt's ancient history by creating hieroglyphics and mini pyramids. They'll also prepare Kenyan and Nigerian dishes, participate in an African safari scavenger hunt, and experience traditional African drumming and dancing.
Day Three
Discover Asia (China, Japan, and India)Campers will explore Asian cultures through craft activities like origami and Rangoli art, along with cooking Chinese fried rice and Indian samosas. They'll play traditional Asian games, like the Chinese shuttlecock, and take part in a Tai Chi or Yoga workshop to understand the importance of mindfulness in many Asian cultures.
Day Four
Journey through South America (Brazil, Peru, and Argentina)A South American journey will see campers create Inca-inspired masks and sample delicious Brazilian cheese bread and Argentine empanadas. They'll get into the spirit of Brazil's Carnival by making masks for a parade and learning samba and tango dances.
Day Five
Exploring Oceania and the Pacific Islands (Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii)On the final day, campers will explore Oceania by making Aboriginal dot paintings and Maori poi balls. They'll cook Hawaiian Huli Huli chicken and Australian lamingtons, and then take part in kangaroo hopping races and learn the traditional Maori Haka. The camp will conclude with a World Travel Showcase and the awarding of "Global Explorer" certificates.
