Course Description: Metal Arts Youth Camp

Step into the exciting world of metal fabrication! This hands-on camp is perfect for students with no prior experience in metalwork. Throughout the week, students will learn to safely operate welding equipment, prepare and join metal using GMAW welding, and cut metal using a CNC Plasma machine. Students will combine these skills to design and create their own unique metal sculpture. Taught by expert faculty from the COCC Manufacturing and Applied Technology Center (MATC), this engaging and interactive camp is open to students ages 12-15 who can follow safety protocols and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Safety gear including welding gloves, welding hoods, and all necessary PPE will be provided for use during the camp. Ages 12-15.

Additional Course Information

Please make sure your child(ren) are fed before camp begins. They are welcome to bring snacks from home.

Students must wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants made from non-synthetic materials. Closed-toe shoes, preferably boots, are also required. Students will not be allowed to participate in the Metal Arts Youth Camp if they are not wearing the required clothing.

Liability waiver specific to the Metal Arts Youth Camp needs to be signed before student/s can participate in the camp. Please see Course Resources.

Cancellation Policy

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
