Course Description: Moving from Peer to Supervisor

Make your transition from peer to supervisor successful. Being promoted to a role supervising your former peers is one of the most difficult transitions to make in your career. Learn how to develop agreements to hold yourself and others accountable, build your team, set goals, support your organization and create documentation of poor performance. Discussion includes new communication rules related to confidentiality, role modeling and recognition.

Michael Cieri

Biography: Mike Cieri has been in the Human Resource Management field for over 20 years. During this time he has held a variety of management positions, including several years on the executive management team of a large corporation as Vice President of Human Resources and Safety, as well as Vice President of Operations. His areas of expertise include legal compliance, workers' compensation, leadership development, performance management,coaching, training and development, compensation analysis, strategic planning, and developing best practices. Mike has a Masters degree in Industrial Relations & Human Resources from the University of Oregon. He has a coaching certificate from The Coaches Training Institute, San Rafael, California and a Practitioner's Certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programmingfrom the NLP Institute of Oregon, as well as a certified DISC and MBTI trainer. Mike also is an adjunct professor at Oregon State University in the college of business and a contributing writer for Fleet Management Weekly.

Mike teaches COCC's Leadership Lab@COCC, offered twice annually and provides customized training and consulting for Central Oregon employers in both public and private sector settings.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
