Course Detail: W-IND-WLD-EW1 - Essentials of Welding - 1

Essentials of Welding 1 is a 5 week-long introductory course designed for both beginners and individuals with prior welding experience. The course provides hands-on training in SMAW (Stick Welding) and GMAW (MIG Welding) within the lab, while classroom instruction covers common welding processes, joint design, welding symbols, welding positions, welding discontinuities, and cutting processes. Instructors assess each student's welding abilities and work to continually develop their knowledge, confidence, and technical skills throughout the course.

Learning Outcomes -

  • At the end of this course, participants will be:

  • 1.) Equipped with the knowledge of basic weld theory and starting to understand the fabrication process. 

  • 2.) Comfortable around the set-up and break down of common welding equipment.

  • 3.) Equipped with the ability to perform basic SMAW (Stick Welding) operations effectively.

  • 4.) Equipped with the ability to perform basic GMAW (MIG Welding) operations effectively.

  • 5.) Equipped with improved welding skills to bring back to a job or personal project.

There are no certifications attached to this welding course. This course is for Professional Development and Personal Enrichment.
