Course Detail: W-IND-CAD-AVD3-D - CAD - Advanced 3-D Modeling (SolidWorks)

This 5-week course introduces advanced principles and practices of Computer-Aided Design (CAD). Students learn to create and modify 3D models and assemblies by interpreting engineering drawings and sketches. Through quizzes, written tutorials, and in-class demonstrations, students build on the knowledge gained in the fundamentals course. This exam-preparation course helps students prepare to take the Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) exam. Vouchers for the exam are covered by Tuition.

Learning Outcomes -

At the end of this course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to:

  1. Create 3D models and assemblies from engineering drawings and sketches.
  2. Read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings at a working level.
  3. The ability to create assemblies from previously created models/parts.
  4. Use advanced SolidWorks tools to create more complex models and parts.
  5. Apply strategies that support successful preparation for the CSWA exam.

Certification

Students will leave the course with a Certificate of Completion from the College of Eastern Idaho WTCE.  Additionally, students will be provided with the time and opportunity to take the CSWA Exam, which provides a verified certification from SolidWorks. This course is an exam preparation course designed for Professional Development and/or Personal Enrichment.

Target Audience -

  1. Learners with foundational 3D CAD experience who want to strengthen their skills through more complex modeling challenges and a deeper understanding of design intent.
  2. Individuals seeking to build on basic CAD knowledge to create more complex parts and assemblies.
  3. Individuals seeking aid or guidance in preparation for the CSWA exam.
  4. Students, hobbyists, and professionals who want to improve their ability to interpret drawings and design custom parts for 3D printing or fabrication.
