Course Detail: PCSE-152 - FILM AND PHOTOGRAPHY



Do you see the world a little differently? In this course, you'll learn to capture the vibrant energy of Detroit using still photography and video. You'll get hands-on experience in a studio, working with lighting and fashion models. You'll also shoot digital film on location and then use digital tools, music, and sound effects to bring your projects to life. This is your chance to show everyone the world through your eyes.

Students will learn basic digital photography and film skills and create still and moving images that capture the beauty and excitement of the city using  documentary, narrative  and experimental techniques. Students will  plan and execute several short films during the course. 

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 

  1. Execute correct film and video camera settings for basic indoor and outdoor shoots. 

  2. Formulate intentional narratives through the use of environment, lighting, color, composition and editing. 

  3. Efficiently plan, pose and direct models to convey a message.

  4. Use thought out transitions, movements, pacing and sound within a digital film to enhance the overall delivery.

  5. Create basic lighting setups for still and motion images.

A $300 deposit is required to reserve a spot in PCSE programs. Once you select "Resident" or "Commuter" tuition, you will be able to make a "Minimum Payment" in your shopping cart. A minimum payment of $300 is required, however, additional amounts can be paid.
