Course Detail: ADRW-325 - WEDNESDAY PAINTING STUDIO

Elevate your practice and find your creative community in our Wednesday Night Painting Studio. This open-format painting studio is designed for adult artists of all experience levels-from alumni and seasoned painters to self-taught enthusiasts and beginners looking for a dedicated space to grow.

Unlike a traditional structured class, this studio focuses on independent practice and personal creative goals. Participants bring their own projects and work at their own pace in a professional studio environment. A resident expert artist is on-hand throughout the session to provide individualized coaching, technical troubleshooting, and optional weekly demonstrations to spark fresh inspiration.

Whether you are looking to finish a long-term canvas, experiment with new techniques, or simply reconnect with your craft alongside fellow artists, this studio offers the space, time, and mentorship to help you flourish.

What to Expect:

  • Creative Autonomy: No set syllabus or mandatory assignments; your time is yours.

  • Expert Guidance: Access to professional feedback and technical "office hours" during every session.

  • Collaborative Atmosphere: Build lasting connections with a diverse community of lifelong learners.

  • Professional Environment: Work in a high-quality CCS studio space (Standard safety protocols apply; low-VOC/solvent-free environment).

Studio Safety & Maintenance Policies

To ensure a healthy and professional environment for all artists, participants must adhere to the following CCS studio protocols:

  • Solvent Restrictions: We are a low-VOC studio. If you are working with oil paints, you may only use Odorless Mineral Spirits (OMS) or Gamsol in appropriate, leak-proof containers. The use of Turpentine, Turpenoid, or any high-odor solvents is strictly prohibited. No exceptions.

  • Fire Safety & Disposal: To prevent fire hazards, all oily or solvent-soaked rags must be deposited in the designated yellow oily rag disposal can (located near the door) before you leave the studio for the day.

  • Sink Etiquette: To protect our plumbing and the environment, please do not wash heavy paint loads directly into the sink. Perform an initial cleaning of your brushes using your personal solvent container or water bucket; the sink should only be used for a final, light rinse.

  • Canvas size restrictions: Canvases left to dry in the studio must fit into the drying rack provided.  Maximum size is 24" X 24". Any canvas larger than 24" X 24" must be taken home by the artist.
