Course Detail: AEXP-206 - FIBER ARTS: DYEING COTTON AND LINEN

Fiber-reactive dyes are the gold standard for plant-based textiles. In this session, we will learn how to use fiber reactive dyes, both hot and cold, to create multi-color resist dye patterns on cotton and linen.

  • Precision Prep: Master the scouring process to ensure fibers are free of oils and ready to bond with the dye.

  • Alkaline Activation: Practice the use of soda ash and specific pH balancing, along with salt to "fix" the color for maximum wash-fastness.

  • Professional Results: Move beyond home tie-dye kits to achieve sophisticated, professional multi-color applications on fabric and yarn.
