Course Detail: CPLA 100 - PRIOR LEARNING ASSESSMENT (PLA) AT CCS


This course is a step-by-step guide for organizing and submitting the components required for your PLA evaluation. 

Required Components Include:

  • Your PLA Biography 

  • Current Professional Resume and CV (*if applicable)

  • Your Learning Narrative

  • Supporting Artifacts for the Learning Narrative

 And, if pursuing credit for a 'DAS' or 'DBS' course (CCS business courses):

  • Evidence of Online Presence



To ensure adequate time to complete the development of your Prior Learning Assessment Portfolio and CCS review, you will need to register for this course no later than:

  • May 30th for students seeking credit for the Fall term

  • June 30th for students seeking credit for the Winter term



The Prior Learning Assessment Fee is $250.

Please note: 

  • The Assessment Fee ($250) will cover the evaluation and processing for up to 3 credit hours (one typical CCS course)

  • Should you be granted more than 3 credits upon review of your PLA components, an additional processing fee of $50 per credit will be required. 

Example:

3 credits awarded (1 class) - zero balance

If 6 credits are awarded (2 courses)- a balance of $150 ($50 x 3 additional credits) will be assessed before credit will be applied to your academic record.


All Processing Fees must be submitted before the credit is awarded.


The assessment fee is non-refundable; however, it can be transferred to a future semester once. This option is available if you need extra time to organize your PLA portfolio or to make updates for an appeal.

You are responsible for adhering to deadlines as outlined for PLA assessment inquiries and submissions and promptly communicating any needs, questions, or time constraints to your PLA coordinator.

Schedule: The course will remain open for a maximum of 15 weeks after the date of enrollment. All requirements for assessment, along with the PLA Submission and Acknowledgment Form, must be submitted by: May 30th if you are seeking credit for the Fall term September 15th if you are seeking credit for the Winter term.
