Course Detail: AVIS-160 - SCREENPRINTING

Practice the art of screen printing through the exploration of basic techniques. Students will create a series of single and multi-colored edition prints while investigating their own interests, ideas and images through the printing process.

$295 plus $45 material fee

Ages 16+

6 Sessions

Supplies to bring for the course:

Pencils

Various brushes

Scissors

Xacto knife

Mylar film for registration (reusable)

Black Paper Mate Flair Medium pens

8.5" x 11" and/or 11" x 14" cardstock/heavyweight paper - need for week 1 - recommend French Paper but any 100 lb or heavier paper will work

Newsprint Paper

Melissa Dettloff

Biography: Melissa Dettloff is a teaching artist born and raised in Detroit. First introduced to screen printing as an art student at Wayne State University, she has been making screen prints for over 20 years. With her friends, she co-owned Ocelot Print Shop, a community screen printing shop in Detroit's Cass Corridor, for five years. She has been teaching art and screen printing workshops for 10 years and maintains an art practice in her home print studio in northwest Detroit.
