Course Detail: ADRW-248 - NON-TOXIC OIL PAINTING

Unleash your creativity in a vibrant and eco-friendly environment with our painting class featuring non-toxic, water-based oil paints. This innovative medium offers the rich, buttery texture of traditional oils without the harmful solvents, making it perfect for artists of all levels. Learn color mixing, brushwork, and composition, helping you create stunning artworks that are both expressive and environmentally conscious. Due to limited storage space, students will work from reference images and create paintings 24" x 20" or smaller.

10 pages of Arches Oil Painting Paper (Painting Surface)

Marceline Mason

Biography: Marceline Mason's paintings are meditations on the urban landscape at night, her work focuses on reversing the role of the figure and the natural world. She depicts trees and foliage as figures set against a human world of light pollution and concrete. Focusing on the application of color, she creates limited, tonal depictions of nature cast in man-made light. In fleeting symbiosis, plant life and natural atmosphere exist alongside traces of human ephemera. These scenes are based on lived experiences from night walks and moments of elation in viewing something beautiful alone. Mason moved to Detroit to receive a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art (2017). Many of the scenes depicted have been inspired by Detroit and Hamtramck where Mason's studio and home are located. Her work may be found at MarcelineMason.com
