Training Information: CED-0851 - Class A Soils - Field Description of Soils

This workshop is targeted to individuals who have passed the Class A Licensed Designer written exam and are preparing to take the Class A Soils Exam to become a Licensed Designer in Vermont. Although this workshop is approved for Continuing Education credits for already licensed designers, it is targeted and taught towards professionals just entering the licensed designer program.

Participants will focus on essential soil properties related to soil drainage and on-site waste disposal, including soil texture, color, redoximorphic features, soil structures, and permeability.

Participants will evaluate and identify soil characteristics using standards appropriate to the Vermont wastewater system design, describe soils, and estimate seasonal high water table levels.

Participation in the three (3) hour in-person or remote training and a three (3) hour field exercise on the same day or the day after is required. Upon completion, the participant is expected to be knowledgeable in describing soils and estimating seasonal high water table levels.

The VT Department of Environmental Drinking Water and Groundwater Protection Division has approved this for four (4) Soils and one (1) Non-Soils Continuing Education credits.

REGISTRATION: Registration closes two (2) before the training starts. Any registrations from the initial close up to five (5) days before the start will be assessed a $50 late registration fee. No registrations within five (5) days of the training.

CANCELATION: Cancelations occurring within five (5) days of the training start will be assessed a $100 cancelation fee. No refunds are given for no-shows.
