Training Information: CED-0554 - National Summer Transportation Institute - High School
This 7-day, 6-night residential program for rising 9th-12th graders provides students with hands-on exploration of future careers in transportation through awareness of the complex transportation systems we've come to rely on. Interactive labs, field trips, and industry experts will engage the students as they operate drones and other transportation equipment, use flight and CDL simulators, create and test their designs, visit various transit systems & construction sites, evaluate habitat impacts, and learn how bike paths, bridges, airports, railroads, and culverts are designed and built. Exploring energy, the environment, and eco-friendly transportation systems focuses on how Math, Science, and English relate to transportation careers. The NSTI is sponsored by the VT Agency of Transportation and funded through a grant from the Federal Highway Administration.
