T&L 553: Collaborative Relationships: Home, School and Community

A course appropriate for anyone working with families, early childhood educators, general educators, special educators, related service personnel, administrators and outside agency personnel. Topics covered include:
  1. the various models of collaboration and consultation and the stages of each
  2. communication skills
  3. problem-solving
  4. conflict management
  5. diverse perspectives
  6. information collection procedures
  7. supervisory skills
  8. family characteristics and structure across the lifespan
  9. family focused intervention
  10. school choices
  11. school issues such as poverty, domestic violence, teasing, bullying, and school violence

Prerequisite: Acceptance to UND Grad School as a degree or non-degree seeking student

Extensions:  The extension option advertised below should not be purchased in conjunction with this course. If they are purchased at the same time, your extension purchase will be cancelled and refunded. Information regarding how to purchase an extension will be emailed to you approximately one month prior to your assigned course end date.

SPEA Application:  Prior to checking out with payment, you will be prompted to fill out our SPEA (Self-Paced Enroll Anytime) application form. Please read the question below thoroughly so that you are prepared to answer it accordingly on the application form. Answering the question incorrectly will delay the process of gaining course access.

  • Have you previously attended or been admitted to UND, either on-campus or online? If you are brand new to the University of North Dakota system, please select 'No'. By selecting 'No', a $35 application fee plus a $15 new graduate student fee will be automatically added to your shopping cart. In order to receive a UND Student ID and course access, these fees must be paid up front. If you are an existing or returning UND student, please select 'Yes' to this question.

 Session Details

Schedule: Upon receiving access to your course, you will have 3 to 9 months to complete. Course access is typically granted within 5-7 business days. Work at your own pace.

Cancellation Policy

Withdrawals received 1 to 30 calendar days after your registration date will be refunded 100% of the course tuition. Withdrawals received 31 to 60 calendar days after your registration date will be refunded 50% of the course tuition. No refunds are available if UND receives your Withdrawal after 61+ calendar days after your registration date. The 1-time UND Admission Fee of $35 is non-refundable.
