T&L 2900: MC: North Dakota Envirothon 2024

Welcome to North Dakota Envirothon is a 2 credit professional development course for high school teachers predominantly in the science field. Our target audience is current and potential North Dakota Envirothon advisors. The North Dakota Envirothon is a natural resource competition for high school students. Teams of 5 are tested on their knowledge of aquatics, forestry/prairie, soils, and wildlife. In addition, teams prepare an oral presentation on a current environmental issue. The ND Envirothon began in 2000. Since inception, over 2000 students have competed in the annual state event. The top team each year goes onto the national competition every summer. Our state event is hosted every May at Crystal Springs Camp. We also host 3 mini-regional events every fall (Valley City, Washburn, Renville). With the program growing and the number of new advisors increasing, we deemed it necessary to host an intensive 3-day teacher training program.
