T&L 2900: ONL: NDHB1388 Science of Reading Asynchronous Professional Development

Included in this professional development series will be information on the Science of Reading and the Big 5 (phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension). Practical examples, resources, videos, activities and sample lesson plans will be provided. Instructional and assessment ideas will be provided to use with elementary students in your current or future classroom. This 15 hour workshop will fulfill the requirements needed for North Dakota HB 1388.

More Info: Dr. Sonja Brandt joined the Teaching and Leadership faculty here at UND in 2019. She is a member of the Elementary Education program, teaching preservice teachers in early childhood and elementary programs as well as graduate students in literacy education. Her work focuses on teachers' awareness of their nonverbal behaviors during instruction to increase and positively impact student learning as well as incorporating active learning strategies into her teachings and as a guide for her undergraduate and graduate students.
