T&L 2900: Beyond Behaviors (Book Study)

Beyond Behaviors, Using Brain Science and Compassion to Understand and Solve Children's Behavioral Challenges, 2019, by Mona Delahooke, PhD, describes behaviors as the tip of the iceberg. It discusses important signals we should address by seeking to understand a child's individual differences in the context of relational safety.

The book study will take place over 6 months. Participants are expected to read each chapter and write a reflection on the content and possible applications to their teaching practice. As a final project, participants will provide one case study relating how they applied the content to understanding and intervening with one student demonstrating difficult behaviors.

Books will be purchased by the South Central Prairie Special Education Unit for non members. Other participants may purchase the book here.
