T&L 2900: WFPS Comprehension & Writing Training

This course equips West Fargo Public School educators with instructional strategies to support the development of reading comprehension and writing in learners from kindergarten through fifth grade. Emphasis will be placed on both comprehension strategies (i.e., visualize, question, connect, infer, and text analysis) as well as writing strategies focused on both content and conventions. Educators will also learn how to gradually release instruction to support the various needs of learners in their classroom. Practical applications include the development of standards-aligned focus lessons and formative assessment. Participants will leave the course with a toolkit of strategies to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and literacy outcomes in the elementary classroom.
