This graduate-level professional learning course is designed to help educators improve instructional practice and student achievement through the implementation of The 4 Disciplines of Execution for Educators (Covey et al., 2026). Participants will explore the Four Disciplines of Execution while developing and implementing a professional Wildly Important Goal (WIG) aligned with school improvement priorities and the instructional framework outlined in The New Art and Science of Teaching. Through book study discussions, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and classroom application, educators will learn to identify high-impact goals, establish lead measures, create compelling scoreboards, and engage in accountability that promotes continuous improvement.

Instruction will be delivered through a combination of face-to-face sessions, PLC discussions, reflective practice, classroom implementation, and data analysis. Participants will engage in guided discussions of each section of the text, analyze classroom and student data, collaborate with colleagues to enhance/improve instructional practices, and apply evidence-based strategies in their classrooms. PLC accountability meetings will provide opportunities to monitor progress, analyze student evidence, problem solve challenges, and continuous improvement. Throughout the course, participants will develop their WIG plan, lead measures, scoreboard, implementation evidence, reflections, and a sharing of their work with others.
